Best. ISP. Ever.
I signed up on Thursday at 3pm expecting to wait up to a week for my DSL connection because I completely cancelled my service with TPG, as well as my phone line with Telstra. Friday morning 7am I get a text message saying my internet connection is ready to go. I already have a modem ready to go (Dynalink RTA 1320) I’m connected to the infamous OXEN exchange. Some users connected to this exchange are getting very bad speeds because of the massive amount of congestion on this specific exchange so I was expecting to get bad speeds as well, or at least nothing above 8mbps (ADSL1 speed).
To my surprise I’m getting 13mbps which is a huge deal for me. I was always on 1.5mbps so this is great. I’m also getting an upload speed of 1mbps so that is fantastic. The unmetered content that Internode has to offer is also amazing! All the game servers, file mirrors, iView, Tivo etc. I love how I can find my favourite shows like Diggnation on the Internode file mirror and download it without worrying about my usage. I can also download game demos and full games off steam without worrying about the download size.
All in all, Internode is an awesome ISP. Some might not like the prices but it is well worth the money. The customer service is unbelievably good – “It’s like they actually care” so if you’re looking for a change of ISP definitely check out Internode. Their ADSL services are available nationwide, and if you’re lucky you might be able to get ADSL extreme where you live.
This week I managed to lose both my iPhone and home Internet connection, which means I have been living in hell!
First of all, dealing with Telstra is the biggest waste of time there could be. I had to call 5 times over 3 days just to get my phone line reconnected, and I’m still waiting! On top of that, my iPhone decided it would be a good idea to randomly die on me as I was using it.
I was getting the “infinite restarts” problem, the phone would not boot up properly and wouldn’t go bast the apple logo. Annoyingly, iTunes does not let you restore an iPhone without an Internet connection so I searched to see if any of my neighbours had something to offer me. No luck there.
Instead of restoring my old iPhone I decided to get a new one, and somehow managed to do just that at 10pm. I still needed Internet to activate it so off to mcdonalds carpark I went! They have 100% free wifi now which came in very handy! Having a new iPhone means that I’d lose over 25,000 text messages (You would text that much too if you had unlimited). iTunes did give me the option to restore a backup but I chose not to, I still had all my contacts but I didn’t see the point of restoring all my messages and apps. It’s a new year, new start.
So now I’m sitting here writing this pointless blog. I really shouldn’t call it a blog, I don’t know who would waste their time reading it. It’s more of a diary, an archive. I’ll read it again in 10 years to remind myself how lame I was/still am. Still waiting for my phone line to be reconnected! I hate telstra. Although I am considering forking out $200 a month for 200GB DSL2 as they are the only provider in my area
I type way too fast on the iPhone, need rehab. Can’t wait for the weekend it’s gonna be the biggest one yet!
Random. Over and out.
It really annoys me when people have such a small vocabulary they describe things as “gay” and anyone they don’t like or agree with is automatically deemed a “fag”
I honestly don’t think it will ever change, however, sometimes I find myself very surprised when I hear it coming from a person who I thought was a little more capable; whether they use the words in person or while chatting online.
Find other words to use! Or at the very least be mindful of who you’re talking to when you’re demonstrating how limited your brain can be.
